Just received new 'beta' KM Track. Unfortunately no luck with setting it up on M1 Macs - version 3 software launches both with or without terminal line
sudo /Applications/KeyMouse_3.app/Contents/MacOS/keymouse-darwin
However anything beyond saving new layout - creating macro, key combination, sending to a device, checking the firmware - either hangs the app for good or results in error message in terminal (if the app was launched via terminal)
keymouse-darwin[48559:13191387] TSMSendMessageToUIServer: CFMessagePortSendRequest FAILED(-1) to send to port com.apple.tsm.uiserver

Tried on two Macs with Big Sur and Monterey respectively.
Also tried on old Intel based Mac with Mac OS Mojave - the app launches, but the keyboard is not recognized at all - no responses on key presses - even with restarts and plugging out/ in USB.

Is this just due to early software status or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you J B, that exited the app indeed:).

> Could not quit the app.

If it’s anything like the v2 software, you have to choose File > Exit to quit the app (like a Windows app). Trying the standard way to quit, i.e. selecting “Quit” from the app menu, or hitting Command + Q, does not work. Does this help?

(I think the KeyMouse team is aware of this issue and will hopefully be able to fix it soon. Definitely tripped me up too at first.)

Hi, I tried the test image. The app launched ok, I was able to made some changes in the layout. At first no luck saving the layout to the device - got error connecting device (also on checking the firmware version). Could not quit the app. I tried to open via command again - interestingly, another version of the app opened (while the first one was still open and frozen), and for this one it could save the layout to the keyboard. The key combination which I created, however, did not work.

It took some time to get all the compile tools up and running on the new Mac, but after re-compiling, it seems to be working. You will still have to launch with "sudo" as you mention above. Please try the following "test" link to see if the software opens and can write to the devices. We'll do more testing on our end as well.

The new Mac came with Monterey instead of Big Sur (I'm guessing they behave the same on this error). Strange thing is I was able to write to a KeyMouse device 1 time, and then now I'm getting the error you mentioned:
TSMSendMessageToUIServer: CFMessagePortSendRequest FAILED(-1) to send to port com.apple.tsm.uiserver

We're still testing further to see what's causing this.

We just ordered a new Mac mini with M1 chip and Big Sur so we can test/develop further on this. We should have it tomorrow. We'll keep you posted.

I'm actually seeing the same issue on an Intel MacBook, so I think it's a problem with Big Sur and not M1.

Just got my KeyMouse Track - same issue, the app hangs intermittently. I'm unable to save my keymap to the KeyMouse Track. Please fix!

If I had an M1 Mac, I'd offer you remote access so you could have one to test on until you get your own, in case that would help.

Maybe Sergei Tesliuk or another KeyMouse customer has one and would be willing to offer remote access for KeyMouse development?

We currently do not have an M1 mac but we are trying to figure out a way to fix this issue.

For the Intel install, there is a setting in the KeyMouse software on v3.06 that you may have to disable for the keys to work right. It is called "Enable Keyboard Hook for Software Level Macros". To access this setting, click the dropdown "File" and select "Settings". A popup should appear. Unselect "Enable Keyboard Hook for Software Level Macros". We are still working on figuring out why this hook for software macros breaks on Macs.

I'm bumping this post because it could apply to me when/if I get a second device, and I'm concerned that the KeyMouse guys may have accidentally overlooked it.
