os: Windows 10
key mouse: combination of Track and Alpha
connection: directly to IO panel, no usb hubs

save to device only detects the half connected directly to the computer, the daisy-chained half is never on the list.
have to move the PC connection to the other half in order to save changes.

This is one of the known issues listed on the product page for KeyMouse Alpha & KeyMouse Track. It will be resolved in the next firmware update. I realize it's a pain, but as soon as we get the computer talking to both the master & slave devices, this will be fixed.

Heber Allred thank you for quick response. I should have read the description carefully.

I also can't get DPI changed at all. the referenced product page sates it's another known issue but I don't think it matches what I experience.

I programmed two buttons to set lowest and highest DPI (200, 3200). the buttons are on a non-default layer.
However regardless which button I press the cursor speed remains the same.
I didn't use the shift DPI functions. I tried the standard ones with both and non-both options.
Speaking of, how does the non-both DPI work? does it apply to the half where the button is bound?
